  • Brand awareness and preferences
  • Media consumption
  • Household purchasing

Our field-ready intercept questionnaires can be adapted to your brief, or we can work with your questionnaire as supplied, including for tender submissions that require a documented methodology and quality controls.

How we work

A documented, repeatable methodology

Whether in person, on WhatsApp or both, each project follows the same documented approach, so you know how respondents will be selected and how the data will be checked.

  1. 1

    Brief & questionnaire

We confirm objectives, target respondents and quotas, agree on face-to-face, WhatsApp or both, and adapt or review the questionnaire.

  2. 2

    Interviewer briefing

Interviewers are briefed and practise the questionnaire and consent script before fieldwork starts.

  3. 3

    Respondent selection

For intercepts, interviewers approach every nth person passing a fixed point (or use time-based selection), screen them against the study criteria and apply soft quotas for age and gender. Intercept samples are non-probability samples, so results describe the people interviewed and are not statistically representative of the wider population.

  4. 4

    Fieldwork

For intercepts, we plan for 80–120 completed interviews per location, with every approach, refusal and refusal reason logged. WhatsApp respondents join through a link or QR code that we provide.

  5. 5

    Checks & delivery

Data is reviewed daily, checked against interview timestamps, cleaned and handed over with a full methodology note.

Quality & POPIA

Quality and privacy built in

Quality controls

  • Interviewer briefing and practice before fieldwork
  • A supervisor present for part of each fieldwork day
  • Every interview is time-stamped
  • Daily data review and refusal log
  • GPS/location stamp of the fieldwork site or a photo of the interview set-up (with venue permission; respondents are not identifiable in photos)

POPIA-aligned by design

  • Every interview opens with a consent script written with POPIA in mind
  • Consent (yes/no) is recorded on every questionnaire, and the interview proceeds only if the respondent agrees
  • Face-to-face responses are anonymous, and all responses are used for research purposes only
  • No personal identifiers (name, phone, ID) are collected in face-to-face interviews
  • Respondents may stop at any time
  • WhatsApp surveys are opt-in: respondents choose to start the survey from a link or QR code that we provide, and can stop at any time
  • We do not keep WhatsApp respondents’ phone numbers in our records or datasets, and do not share them with anyone, including clients
  • Survey response data is kept for 12 months, then deleted
